I was looking forward tobig things from my 968Stellpflug.I had to restart it , it looked ok but the roots along the vine never bit in the soil. The wind twisted it time and again. It was really kinda poor looking. To make a long story short I decided it was a good idea to cut off all the damaged vine. It was 8ft long now it looks a week old . willit recover or should I write it off. Jeff

okay, to me, it sounds like you cut off the main vine? is that correct? well, as long as there are leaves on the plant, it should recover, and grow a secondary main. as far as what you'll get in october? hard to say. do you have any backups? for next year you might consider a couple of things to prevent the main from getting mangled from the wind: first, a windbreak of somesort is a must, be creative, use things you have around the house. i used pvc pipe, plastic, and duct tape. so far its working better then i'd hoped. second, use something to secure the main until those tap roots go down, and until the secondary's come out. stakes, bamboo sticks, or plastic hangars work really well. i use the hangar method, but you can do whatever's easier for you.
good luck, scott
