I have 8 big max plants happily growing ready to take over my garden and a couple other spots in my yard. I was wondering how big these big max have been known to grow?

Red if you only grow one pumpkin per plant 80-150 is as big as you will probably get. I have read somewhere where a guy grew a 600 lber. But I think he was mistaken I think he got some Ag seeds by mistake. Hope that helps mark.

Also, if you are growing for the first time, you might want to consider limiting yourself to less plants. Otherwise, plan on spending a lot of time tending to your patch, taking care of weeds, pruning, fertilizing, dusting and not to mention, lots of water. Good luck to ya

Three years ago, I grew my first pumpkin as an after-thought--I was out of space, so I used a 12 inch pot filled with just straight "black" city compost (from municipal garbage and yard waste, NO human waste; pH about 6.8-7.0, very high fertility reading on a Rapitest $30 meter.) It was a Big Max. plant got about 12-15' long running up the lawn. Got just 1 pumpkin, about 75 lbs., short & fat. With good growing conditions & soil, you may get up to 100-150.

Ive been using 10" bathroom mirrors to reflect sunlight into the shady spot where 2 plants are growing. It seems to have speed up the growth. they where smaller than my other ones but now they have caught up. ha ha

The mirrors have also been breaking the wind a bit (ive got them secured). they are kinda thin though hope they dont break. ;)

I grew Big Max two years ago; with very little care other than watering, my largest was 70 lbs. It had good shape though, and was bright orange. --Bruiser
