a simple question. what is the average length of the vine on a large pumpkin strain?? and are there more than one on the main vine reaching the same length.i notice from the pictures alot of growers have alot of room for their crop. i would imagine this is because of the vine growth rather than the amount of soil needed for the plants to live in. thx n.c.

Sounds to me like vines may grow to around the 12-15 meter length usually. I only have about 750sq ft of space so I am going to try to keep mine a bit tighter as well. I ahve decided on the Tree pattern to vine growth = single primary vine with perpendicular secondaries. We will see how it goes!

The length of the vine on my 1096.8 was 31 feet and the pumpkin was out 13 feet from the stump. That was the longest main I had on any of my plants. My other plants averaged about 25-27 feet long. I grow my plants in the Christmas tree pattern, so I have only one main vine and allow about 900 square feet for each plant.. Joe P.
