How long should I run my soaker hoses? I have 3 hills with plants 2 weeks old and 2 hills with plants 10 days old. I'm running water from our well. The tempature today was 85 degrees and we have had a severe drought here. I've been running the hoses 1/2 hr in the morning and afternoon. Any help or advice would be appreciated. The plants look very healthy, I just want to make sure I'm not giving them to much water.

Hoosier,

I water overhead, so I can measure how much water my plants get with a rain gauge. In this case, plants should have at least 1" per week. A lot depends on your type of soil, for the plant must have good drainage. Also remember,"A wilted plant is not a growing plant!" But on the same hand, you don't want your roots laying in water for any extended period of time.
