I came acrossed a list that most of us here can relate to...
20 THINGS THAT IT TOOK ME 50 YEARS TO LEARN by Dave Barry
Item #3 There is a very fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness'.
Seems to me that I can identify with this!!!

Very fine line indeed. This is my second year growing AG's , first year competitively, and my wife is just about ready to sign me into the local funny farm.... Gee, I wonder if they'll let me grow AG's there. :)

My husband can't believe anyone can get into pumpkins like this but on the other hand he can build electronic stuff to 2:00 AM. Thank goodness we all have our own hobbies.

One thing for sure...if you want to raise "eyebrows", just tell a new acquaintance that you raise giant pumpkins. It's a great "ice breaker"....even if deep down inside they think that you might be mentally ill!

I know what side of the line that I'm on. Like today I found myself like 45 feet up in a tree just to cut a limb out that was shading the corner of my pumpkin patch. One of my friends told me that I was crazy and must be part monkey to be doing such a thing..hehe

I cut down the whole 45 ft tree. Chainsaws are almost as imortant as rototillers.

If I lose sleep now over an impending wind storm, what's going to happen the last two weeks before the weigh-off?

Stan asked....... "If I lose sleep now over an impending wind storm, what's going to happen the last two weeks before the weigh-off?" Stan I can tell ya what someone told me.......there is room to join him on the "ledge" as Dennis put it. It's quite roller coaster we are on these days isn't it? From past years experience, I found the Roller Coaster is a long 5 1/2 month ride. My advice is......Hold on tight! Hang in there buddy.. Shell

I turned a 112 pound golden retriever who thinks he's a lap dog into a farm dog to chase away the evil rabbits, well sort of...

Tom...how did you know that I have a rabbit burrowing into my hoop houses? I think that they are after the alfalfa pellets.

This is my third year, When I first told my Co-workers that I was going to grow a Giant Pumpkin THEY LAUGHED OUTLOUD AT ME, SAID THAT NOW THEY KNOW I AM CRAZY. Last year I grew one over 400 lbs and they are only laughing quietly. My wife talks about my BABIES instead of a pumpkin. ME I talk to my pumpkins from the day they come out of the ground. Took the name Water because that what the babies need most.
