I am curious as to the consensus for the optimum growing temperature for AG pumpkins.

Right around 83 degrees Stan seems to do the best for my plants. I try to maintan mid 80's during the day and mid 60's at night. Hope that helps. mark

I agree with Mark. They seem to like the low 80's. Much hotter and lots of plants start to wilt and get stressed from the heat (misting is key to prevent this stress). The warm nights are important too. I think even 70's at night is best.

If pumpkins don't like it over 100 those of us in the Central Valley of Calif. are going to have to get the misters going. Does anyone have any good ideas about misting ?

test drove the hoophouse heater last nite...balmy 70*f this a.m.inside structure. planted four AG youngsters. opened one flap, opened two flaps, opened two more flaps, brought bedroom window fan out to hoophouse and just managed to keep temps below 90*f. new transplants aren't showing any shock yet !!! wind picking up, rain starting, closed flaps, plugged in heater. went to frig for silver bullet medicine. gonna be a long season here in new england !!!

Check out the misting article on the How-To section of the site. I used this design and it works well. The folks at Dripworks were very helpful and didn't try to upsell me at all.
Also, I seem to remember some talk last season. Type the word "mist" (without the quotes) into the search box at the top of this screen for those discussions.
