Out of my second start of seeds I have three that really stick out. The problem is that I have only two spots left in my patch, so one will have to be a back-up. The three plants are a 811 Stellpflug , 801.4 Ciliboto and a 835 Checkon. I know it's a roll of the dice which one to keep, but I would like to hear from the vets out there which plants to keep.

The 811 Stelpflug was from the 946.5Geertz and was pollinated by the 1009Eaton that produced Len's 968....the 811 was 26% heavy to the charts.....Thats my pick.
Toss a coin for the other two...both great genetics and could make an argument for each !............Glenn A

The 801.4 Ciliboto (Female 935 Lloyd - Male 946.5 Gerts)
The 835 Checkon ( Female Checkon 815 - Male 1009 Eaton)
Some other plant in the patch may have to go!!!

Sorry....typo ! ....6% heavy !...oops.....in any case it was pollinated by a successful pumpkin plant(968)...that 946.5plant that grew the 811 ALSO had a 900 plus fruit on it........the 801.4 ciliberto was pollinated by the plant that grew the 983....and the checkon is good too.....my choice=811 and 801...G

hey you

Greencastle, PA

what does 6% heavy mean?

5/11/2001 9:57:45 PM

Think Big

Commack, NY

it means that its actual weight was 6% more then what it was estimated to weigh........not unlike the 547 armstrong that weighed slightly more then 13% heavy for its size! LOL!!

It means that the pumpkin weighed 6% more than the estimated weight.

I planted the 811 Stellpflug by itself today, it's the thickest plant (awesome stem & leaves). I planted the 835 Checkon and 801.4 Ciliboto on a hill together. I'm favoring the Checkon at the present but I'll probably wait a little bit before eleminating one of them.
