my first pumpkin ws like 10 pounds, but i started it 2.5 weeks into july, and it was a prizewinner......first AG was estmated at680lbs, but, due to inexperience, i didnt' put anything under the fruit, and some rodents tunneled in and that was that.

186 in 2000. My wife got me the seeds from bigpumpkins.com & I just stuck 'em in the garden with everthing else, not expecting much. Since then I've read both of Don's books and loads of information from the web. My target for this year is anything over 400.

How heavy was my first? Well, it was 1982 and she must've weighed 350lbs. Butt ugly too, I really had my beer goggles on that night.....oh wait a minute, we're talking pumpkins here. This is my first year with AG's. I did grow a pumpkin about the size of a baseball a few years ago.

Water (John)

Midway City, California

1st year 240 est.. I did not position my pumpkin to the vine in the correct position. It pulled the stem right out of the pumpkin.
2nd year 400+ est. I think when I pruned too much of the vines all at once the pumpkin went into shock
3rd year I am better prepared this year with what I have learned from mine and others experiences. Am sure I will go over 800 lbs. Waiting until May 10th to start my seeds.
Good Luck to all John = Water

I grew my first Atlantic Giant last year. I used store bought seed and info from from this site. My weigh in at the end of Sept. was 58 pounds. I plan to do much better this year, I have a Dopp 788 on the go and I'm armed with Don Langevin's book. My goal is to one day grow the largest pumpkin north of 60. Has anybody got any idea what at is anyway? Yukon

This is my first year trying to grow a ag. My biggest pumpkin(A big max type) was grown last year and weighed 135 lbs. The same vine had 7 or 8 more pumpkins on it that weighed 70+ lbs a piece. I was proud of myself for that..hehe

hey you

Greencastle, PA

I'm growing big max, how did they do for you? well, I did some math today and made an educated guess about my pumpkin weights. These are the ones I'm growing for size:
432 Sawtelle: hopfuly will produce: 1033.5 Morgan
478 Kilbert: may possibly grow: 969 Morgan
481.5 Kilbert: might give me: 985.75 Morgan
869.5 Calai: could produce: 823.75 Morgan
also a 746 Scherber clone, from a plant that produced 1009 Scherber
by the way, I still have a couple of seeds left, including 968 Stellpflug, is it to late to start?
