Greeting from Beautiful Sunny Southern California, Temp at 0800 was 71 degrees. High today in the 80's.
Apprentice Pumpking Farmer Needed. Benefits Include Flo's finest cooking (3 meals a day). Use of the car on saturday nights, (Gas included) Pacific Ocean sandy beaches and Disney land 5 miles to the east or west.
Duties: Learn how to prepare pumpkin Patches by Roto-tilling and digging three foot holes.
Pay: As an apprentice you will receive the same pay as I started out with in 1951, working in the stables cleaning, Feeding horses and shoveling horse manure.

That sounds like a good deal, if you saw my diary on the 17th I have two apprentice farmers who would go for that Disneyland thing. They can't drive yet but that gas included is a real plus these days. Jeff

Dear John, Your apprenticeship program sounds interesting, but I already know how to shovel horse manure and have accomplished moving other types as well including bovine, ovine, caprine, avian. As you can see I am pretty good at slinging it. With the price of gas becoming what it is, gas included is an enticing offer, but in your part of the world, Saturday nights on the freeway is a challenge I would want to avoid.
