Please provide any solid information you have on plants that have put out good size fruit that grew in a small area. Looking for the actual names of seeds that people have had good luck with doing this. Please don't tell me to enlarge my patch. I live in tight quarters in the city. If I scratch my arse, I elbow my neighbor.

If finding an alternate location is impossible then you will need to get VERY creative with vine management. Can you post pictures of the area? How long can you make the main vine? Can you curve it unto a "U"? If so you might leave secondary vines on the outer apesct & train them onto the ajacent structures (if they exist) to make the "food factory" big enough to support a nice fruit.

Due to my own stupidity, I snapped the main twice on my 354 Makarchuk this summer, leaving me with about 180 square feet of plant and the pumpkin set 6.5 feet out. Despite this, being away for 3 weeks with little care in July, and crappy weather in August and September, I hit 579 pounds. It's a nice orange cross (670 Daigle x 981 Zunino)E-mail me if you want seeds. Alan

Alex, I can tell you that my 672 grown this year grew with no basal crown and maybe 250 sqft of plant. 1030 Armstrong / 1231 Pukos is the cross. I have plenty of seeds, but might not be as good of promoter as Bill :)
I think you are looking at luck more than anything as I'm guessing not many have actually TRIED to prove seeds in 200sqft. You may as well be the first.

I have room in Hutchinson if you have the gas money!!! Or like I mentioned you could run the main into the house and back out the window in the kitchen?? How about training vines on the fence?

The 955 Brinkley grew a 395 pounder for me and my 3 yr old son in 36 sq. ft. (18' main vine only, no sides--is that 18 sq. ft, 36, or 48?--you're call, but in any case, that's the most pumpkin per sq. ft. I've ever seen)

Stormrat, I grew my 769 Lombardi in only 200 sq ft. Even that might have been a stretch. It maxxed out at only 17 lbs a day but showed growth for all 93 days it was on the vine. In addition to that it went 15% heavy. It was grown off the 1273 Howard. I highly recommend the 1273 Howard. Mark

A drawing I made of my vine strategy this year in the garden. the top of the picture is about 10 feet across, and then down to the first angle is 15 feet. Then another 5 after that toward the other plant. The other plant was in about a 35sq. ft. area and had a 155 pounder on it. I'm just trying to get a good idea of what could be possible in this area. I did get a 488 pounder out of there this year. Cut it early for the fair in August. Just would have liked to know what more it could have done but I had already planned for the fair. It was a Foss1213xself.

Alex, alot of biggies have been grown with a small patch/garden/grass area so for sure it is possible.
Your vine strategy looks interesting, but I don't think you will be able to stuff in so many vines before the fruit on each side with that limited a space....maybe go flag pattern and run longer secondaries in the fat part of the patch and fill the remainder with the leftover vines after the fruit.
