My father and I are attending the convention this year and I had a question about the money exchange. Can I use US money while Im at the hotel and at the casinos or will I have to exchange US money for Canadian money. I was told using a credit card is the best way to go that way there is no confusion in money being exchanged and will get the exact exchange rate. Do most of the places across the border take a credit card or will there be some cases that I will need to use Canadian money?

Any place will be more than glad to exchange your money, and they all have their own rates/charge. I always stop at the casino on the way in for one of the best rates, you'll pay extra for exchanges at the hotel or elsewhere. If you pay with US cash, you'll get CA change, which can be confusing. Credit card works too. You can submit your room charge GST tax and any items bought at 1 place over $50 (exclusions apply) to Canada for a rebate after you get home. Forms are online. There is top notch entertainment at the Fallsview and Seneca Casinos, but book early (like now). Have fun!

Brooks, the Canuck buck and the American dollar are so close in value right now, most places are not offering an exchange rate right now...it is just dollar for dollar.

I'd use your credit card for most purchases but take along some cash (or use cash advance on your credit card) for watering hole purchases.

PS Brooks...don't forget to take something special home for your wife!!
