Just wondering what the best way to store seeds is. Can seeds stand being thawed and refreezed a couple of times? Should the freezer have a defroster? any thing else that i need to know?

i've had my seeds stored in my basement. each pakect of seed(s) are in there own ziploc bag...i've had my seeds stored like that for 4 years now....if i were to switch to a freezer would it effect the seeds?

My experieces and experiments show that a freeze thaw, freeze thaw, will kill the seed.
So if you store your seed in a freezer, take it out, send it to another grower and he freezes it, you will age the seed dramatically. But if you take seeds and freeze them, and only take them out to plant, then I would say that would be the best way.
Freezing seeds now after, they have been stored in a cool dark place shouldn't affect them.
