Great genetics, not to mention, one of the biggest types of lottery in Canada is called the 6/49, because you pick 6 numbers, between 1 and 49...coincidence....I think not.

Great question Brooks and I'd like to know what you think the next hot seed might be?
I think that the 511 and 522 Zaychkowsky both have huge upside considering that they are both from awesome genetics and the fact that Eddy proved his own 522 seed while posting a PB at the same time. Also Mr. Kurkowski grew a huge one from the 511....both seeds pretty hot in their rookie year and likely to see alot more soil in 2008.

If you want to know what the next hot seed is, find out what the Jutras', Wallaces, Pukos, Eatons, Stelts, the Wolfs and the Bosworths, and another two or three dozen people... find out what they're planting. Some of those, including those seeds that are most common among them, are what are going to be hot a year from now. Grow 'em big!
Or, if we have a REALLY bad weather year,... not so much.

275 VanHook '06 (1443 Palmer 05 X 1407 Wolf 05)...grew 1394 Burton in '07!!! Small hole near ground level that had healed up by weigh off time...but still weighed as DMG...kudos to Billy Burton for being up front with the DMG thing...This seed is one to look for!!! Ky. was hot and dry, and Billy (first year grower) almost made 1.4K!!!! Watch out for the KPM!!!!!!!!! Peace, Wayne

Better ask Ron W, Last year in the growers chat He correctly picked both the seed and the grower that won with it!
I like Eddy's 522 ....The 935 Lloyd crossed with the 898 instead of the 865, could start a whole new branch on the family tree!

I'm gonna have to agree with Jordan. ;)
I have a hunch that the 1566 Rodonis will do really well.

It think the 1178.9 Lovelace (998 Pukos X 1370 Rose) could be a potential "hot seed". The 1370 has done very well as a pollinator, at least in some cases.

1306 Jutras
If three heavy hitters would agree with that here, the seed would automatically get planted in more gardens in 08 which would increase its chances. The next great seed will depend genetics as well as many other factors including how many gardens that seed gets planted in.
If you had enough seeds "say of the 1402.5" to give every grower on this board one and they planted it. It would be the next hot seed.

id plant anything with 998 and/or 1068 parentage.how could you go wrong?
want a great prospect for 2008? the 2007 1,470 wallace.
the 1,470 was grown from the 2006 1,502 world record wallace (1068 wallace x 1,354 checkon -world record 2005) and crossed with the 998 pukos ( world record 1,689 in 2007 thats three world record genetics into the 1470. plus the 1,470 was way over chart,a very very thick trouble free bomb proof pumpkin.
if you go back a couple generation you will see familiar big time producing seed stocks like 723 bobier,865 metler, 935 lloyd, 898 knauss,845 bobbier, in this 1,470 family tree
there are going to be fifty lucky sngpg members that get the 1,470 1,502 and 1,689 plus many other fantastic big time crosses grown by many of the best growers in the world today in their return promo/seed sale package

Perry, my father likes that 1306 Jutras (1450x1068). The one that keeps standing out in my mind is the 1075 Scherber 2007. That pumpkin reached 1075 in that cold rocky mountain climate, Im just wondering what how big it could have been in a regular growers climate. I also like Bill's 1566 07' and Steves 1408 (1068 x 805). There is just so many seeds to choose from, so many more growers out there now with great cross's. This is the time of year I enjoy though, changing my mind every week about what I'm planting, lol. But so far I been basically sticking with the same seeds I started with a few months ago, Ill be hoping to plant the next hot NEW seed next year, because as it looks now I will only be planting just three proven seeds and the rest will be 07 seeds. I just hope I get lucky and hit a good one. Them real good proven seeds are way to hard to come by anymore, people has em, and holds onto them, but me, I grow them if I got them lol!

Oh, one more pumpkin, the 1297 Ghaye(998 x self). Another huge pumpkin that was grown in a colder type climate, how big do you think this pumpkin would have been in a regular growers climate? You cant go wrong with that cross. I think there is going to be alot of the selfed seeds grown this year as well, alot of growers are selfing and sibbing now a days more then ever before.

I like the looks of the 1385 Jutras 2007. Also the the 806 Mckie 2007. It was 23.96% heavy and if I am not mistaken the pollinator grew the 1631.5 mckie 2007 20.68% heavy. Maybe Dan will chime in on the pollinator for the 806.

the 1207 was 12.47% heavy and the 1068 grew Don's 1662 which was 8.26% heavy. Its going in here.

I'll throw my two cents in, the 893 Privitera ( 998.6 x 1068 ) deserves some attention. I also think that the 511 and 522 Zaychkowsky seeds will also be popular next year.

From 2006 I like the 985 Werner (1370 Rose x 898 Knauss). It grew 2 over 1300 and 2 over 1100 in '07. All of its progeny went heavy. Also from 2006 the 1092 Martin (1068 Wallace x 992.5 Glasier). Grew 1535.5 and 1169 in '07.
From 2007 the 1363 Werner (985 Werner x 1450 Wallace). I like the cross, plus it went 10% heavy.

1385 Jutras 1470 Wallace 1502 Wallace 1445 Marsh and 1207 Young. Are on the top of my list of many. The 1005 Werner and the 1296,1127 Kurkowski look good. All Steve Daletas pumpkins look great this year as well as Jack Larues 1112 and 1017 could be heard from in 08 as well. I could list about 100 more or so such as the 1556 Werner 1101 Carter 1290 Bowles 1180 Pukos 899.5 Snyder 1248 Ford 1363 Werner 1394 Werner. Ok that is enough I can only grow 4 unless I win power ball and retire but I cant forsee that happening. Matt

Heres one for all of you, lets pick a "next hot seed" that you would plant from pumpkins under say 700 pounds, the monsters aren't that much of a crap shoot as they are popular for obvious reasons but take a look and lets come up with maybe a top 5 of seeds that are under 700 pounds with great genetics and lets make it within the last 5 years to make it interesting. Great topic Brooks

344 Hoffman
1432 Carlson-Peterson X 898 Knauss. The pollinator went 22% heavy as I recall. It has grown a 750 pounder in Cheyenne, and an 800+, and just under 1,000 pounder in Riverton Wyoming. If anyone in a decent growing climate planted this seed, they would be chasing a record by late September.
