Do any of you use coffee grounds in your compost? I have begun getting 20lbs/wk from my local Starbucks. I am also wondering about using paper from my shredder (w/o staples/plastic of course). I have used paper under mulch in my landscape beds for a long time, but never in my compost. thanks. Chris

I do use coffee grounds, they are great for compost and adding newpaper attracts worms.

With shredded paper you can get a really hot compost going.

I don't know a lot about how much ph is affected...good question, I'll have to check into it. I have always used them on my roses with a lot of success though. I thought that I would try this this year as an experiment, although I won't really find out my results for another couple years (I have 3 compost piles that I rotate through). I will have it tested before I start applying it though. Chris

I'm not an expert, but from what I have read, used coffee grounds are pretty close to neutral as far as pH (6.7-6.8). Fresh grounds are acidic, though. Charlie

I cant see why fresh grounds are acidic if used grounds arent. Alls used grounds are is really watered and drauned. If your putting fresh grounds down wouldnt the rain and the days heat have the same effect.
