Ken has been traveling but he'll be home soon.
The CT GS&PGA has confirmed that we're on for Sat, Dec 1st & Sunday, Dec 2nd in chat here at BigPumpkins. This will be a TWO NIGHT LIVE seed auction just as we've held here the past several years.
We'll get the seeds lots organized & posted ASAP. As usual we have some stellar genetics right from the growers.
As always, 100% of the proceeds go back to the growers primarily in the way of prizes at our weigh-off.

How does one club get the first slot 3 years in a row when it was supposed to be a random drawing? I have a real problem with this. Unfortunately my comments will probably hurt some of the friendships I have in Connecticut. I hope that is not the case, but I can't just stand down on this.
Everyone that has been around for a few years knows the first auction brings the most per seed of the year. There are quite a few smaller clubs that need the funds far far worse than Connecticut. Right now, I am ashamed to say I donated to the first Connecticut auction that brought over $10,000. Completely Excessive
I in no way want to take away from the hard work David and Steve do for their club, but I think it is absolutely rediculous that they are allowed to have the #1 slot every year. Quite honestly, I think it is kind of selfish.
I hope Steve, Dave and Ken dont take this personally, but I couldnt just sit here and watch this happen again and not say something.

I just participated in another auction for seeds and it was exciting and fun. I think there are probably alot more new growers that will free up some funds for these events than in years past just to get the best and biggest. There was not alot of notice for that auction. More notice, maybe more interest. More interest, maybe more $$. Seems to be alot more growers every year. Just my thoughts.

Tom,
We ask early which I know helps Ken set the schedule. However last year we weren't first, we were third. It didn't seem to make any difference in sales.

Looks like the number 1 spot is "taken" now anyway. LOL
I just checked the 2006 schedule.
1. Jeff Glover Memorial Seed Auction 2. SNEGPG 3. CT GS&PGA
As I recall these were requested in advance & approved before taking place.

Tom, I am suprised you would make a comment like that. A randow draw might be equitable, its Kens site so its not for me tosay.. We go through proper chanels. The CT Auction was first one year when it was a new club. Always best to check youre facts. Why Indiana posted without Kens permission to go one day before our auction is upsetting. I think it would upset other club auctions if this was to occur to them. When emotions run high I always think its best to hold youre thoughts before putting them in writing. David

First of all it is NOT a random draw! It is only a random draw when there is a conflict. Not every group tried for the same date at the same time. If you don't like the way it is done simply hold your auction elsewhere.

This is just my opinion but here goes:
I think the clubs that do the best are the ones who have the best seeds and put them together in lots that growers want to bid on. Also, other techniques like auctioning multiples of the same lot with the option to the highest bidder on the second lot or going to the next highest bidder have proven to make clubs money. The reason CT made so much in the past is because they put the time into the auction prep.
Why don't some groups see what seeds are bringing the most this season and arrange the lots in their own auctions accordingly (instead of having non-stop auctions in December and January)?
Spend some time with the auction analysis done by Russ. There are some stories in there. Some people got good deals too. I think growers what to know they have a ligitmate shot at getting a decent seed at a decent price.

Sorry for having you first last year. My mistake, I looked back and missed the SNGPG auction.
First, Second, Third, 50th, probably doesnt matter.
My bad guys, I had it all wrong.
