Coyotes have really established a presence here in North Eastern Ohio in the past five years. I've spotted them numerous times while driving and have tracked them on our own property.
I've read that a number of people use coyote urine to repel critters. Ten years ago, this might have been a good option, but, now, I'd worry about attracting coyotes which could kill my geese. Of course, the geese can put up a surprisingly good fight.
I was wondering if coyotes had extended their range into other areas of the country?

I wouldn't be surprised if female coyote urine contained pheromones that could attract males of the species. I'm not an expert. But, it makes sense to me.
I've heard anecdotal evidence, however, that human urine doesn't deter raccoons.
I have seen coyotes before near where I live too. Actually, it was on my university campus around midnight. But, I've also seen foxes in my neighbourhood. They probably share a lot of prey and territory. So, I bet that they are not too far from my suburban home.

Coyotes were first spotted in the Vancouver area in the late 1980s...since then they have become a major pest issue that our bleeding heart governments will do nothing about.
To clarify, the coyote urine that is collected for use to repel other coyotes, is collected from caged male coyotes to scare other males away (and in turn keep females away since they breed for life and stay in family groups)
I've used it and it works to keep away cats, dogs, squirrels and other animals you don't want in your garden. The only problem is that you need to re-apply quite often.
I use it on wood surfaces so that the stink will melt into the wood and last longer periods of time.

We have plenty in eastern Iowa. I use coyote and fox urine as a repellent for rabbits and raccoons, but haven't had any problems with coyote and fox.

Just be glad you don't have skunks. They scared the heck out of me on several occasions this past year. Eventually I just had to avoid the patch at dusk.

We had a coyote but he died when the anvil landed on his head causing him to mistakenly light the lighter that blew up the Acme powder keg. Poor thing. And he was a Suuuuuuuuuper genius too.

Coyotes are a pretty remarkable creature. They've even taken to utilizing mass transit out here when their little feet get tired of running around on the asphalt. Think I'm kidding? Check out this link!

This is no photoshop gag, this happened a couple years ago. On the bright side, it's nice to see someone is using the Max line. I don't think they have any paying customers (at least the coyote has an excuse: the lack of opposable thumbs to drop the token in the slot).

The Pennsylvania Game Commission has certified coyote in every county of the state. I occasionally see them in my surburban back yard. They help keep the population of small wild animals and house cats under controll.
