tony posted on 11/5 that the kids from chagrin falls got his giant pumpkin for their annual pumpkin roll. sad fate of his giant.

thought everyone here would get a laugh at how these kids bragged it up and thus made the police's job simple.

high schoolers are so brilliant sometimes :)

(no offense to the kids on here)

I don't think many people comprehend the time and energy spent growing one of these things. I know I would be after some vigilante justice if that happened to me.

They did a super job of telling it from the growers perspective.
Next year maybe you could show a few of the local teens how to grow their own and the new tradition would be to see how big of a pumpkin they can grow to roll down the hill on that day.
They really could turn that into positive event.
Heaviest pumpkin rolled
Most distance etc.

For community service they should have to do all the fall patch work.
Haul in manure, till etc.

Good...in a couple years I hope to share a similar tale involving MySpace & YouTube surveillance...of a much more serious nature. Dumb kids.

I always worry about kids coming into my patch and causing problems. I bought a couple of those motion sensors without the lights, and a transformer, and a door bell buzzer. Put into a waterproof box on a stake and put in the patch. If your wife doesnt mind being woken up in the middle of the night, good to scare away kids, coons, dog, cats, etc.

Oh, you can make noise outside to scare animals away, or wire it inside so you can prevent warning the kids until they see you running out in your underwear with a baseball bat, LOL, I imagine if it ever happens, their looks will be priceless.

That was a 770 lb. pumpkin.........figure a $1 per pound
The judge should make those vandals pay Tony $770...... or perhaps donate that amount to some local charity.
That will make them think twice before considering doing it again.
