For years and years newbies to Heavy Hitters(many Heavy Hitters) have sworn AT them, not by them. "I like your crosses from this year, but don't bother sending any of the sibbed ones..."
Why the sudden groundswell over them? Tell me we are not so fickle that 1 seed(the 1450) has changed years and years of sib oppression. Damn, maybe the secret is out now... BF

LOL. Ah, but the 895 was a greenie and for some mysterious reason never had much of any influence on sibbed "pumpkin" growing. It's like squash growers and "pumpkin" growers had 2 different sets of criteria. I have shook my head at that for many years now, BF

As my own experiment this year I planted my selfed Reiss 1233.5 seed right next to the original. Pumpkins on both plants were bascially identical, leaf structure, vines, & fruits. Im surprised folks havent selfed to preserve those genetics as best we could.....Guess now we should. Like others have I plan on selfing the 898 this year along with growing several pumpkins on this plant.
