My seeds have been drying for around 3 weeks (on window screen material). Lately, the majority of the seeds have been losing the thin, clear outer material on the outside of the shells. This clear "shell" has mostly shrivelled and become all krinkly and basically fallen off. Basically, my question is whether it is totally normal for the thin, clear stuff on the outside of the seed casing to fall off. Is it nothing at all or are my seeds going bad (ie. improper drying techniques, etc.)? Insight greatly appreciated. Thanks.

And I can just rub the loose stuff off and store them?

No...you have to blow the skins away after you rub them off. This way you'll find them stuck to everything for years to come.

Let them dry longer before they are placed in a long term container such as a canning jar.Put them into a paper bag for (kids lunch bag) another month to be sure they are totally dry.

LOL Glenn...Today was a nice afternoon for blowing skins away on the deck. Much better than listening to the missus nagging about the mess.
