Their have been other extremely heavy pumpkins....that have also had limited seed counts....and lots of inmature seeds. What affect do think this may or may not of had on weight? Pumpkin still growing not mature yet? Desirable?

Maybe instead of looking at this in a negative way everyone should start thinking about the end results, no seeds bigger pumpkins. We might start looking at some type growth hormone or a chemical that will stop seed production and put that energy into fruit growth itself. This looks like the huge fruits with no seeds or very little seeds might be a new trend to go with. I would love having no seeds and Huge fruits.

This is a problem more associated with SOME 1068 Wallace seeds, more so than just big pumpkins. The problem comes through the 845 Bobier through the 935 Lloyd.
Sure this is tragic for Don, but lets not keep talking about it. As you have noticed he hasnt posted. Probably because he is devastated. Lets talk about his 1207 instead that does have seeds.
Sorry for your loss Don, but congrats on the 1662 and 1207. One heck of a season. Grow that 1207 to bigger weights than 1662!!

we have been growing for over 17 years and never - ever, had a pumpkin that did not produce viable seeds.
some counts were really high like last years 1502 and some were fair like the 1068 and some hab a few -less than 100. but we have been fortunate that we never got shut out.
it may be a genetic trait that is picked up in some seeds but not all. some may argue that its weather related but im not so sure thats true. personally highbred vigor comes to mind as well.
it only takes one gene to produce a specific result from any giant pumpkin. whatever is dominate in that particular gene is what you will get. a very well respected plant scientist and former professor told me this as a matter of fact. . thats why for example the 1068 has throw many different shapes over the years. fortunately for the 1068 most carry the heavy over the chart trait from the father 898 and gets the different shapes from its mother 845 just my opinion
