I just can't believe what an amazing year 2007 has turned into, in my wildest dreams I would have never thought we would see a year this big!!!
As I look over the the results I couldn't help but think of how all reached the weights they achieved. I couldn't help but think that Ron & Dick (pap) had either directly or indirectly helped all to get to the next level. Both have given selflessly of their time and knowledge to help every one achieve bigger and better pumpkins. Thank you for opening the 3/4 ton door so the rest of could walk through it and thank you for being so gracious with your time and knowledge. Dave and Carol

Gee, I had this same conversation this week with Barry Todd long time grower of pumpkins of back in the 70's.....and we came to the same conclusion......not just the 1068 seed but the successful growing techniques behind them. Two very special growers who have shared everything that they know along with the time to explain it, additionally the communication vehicle of BigPumpkins.com that delivered the message to the public. All deserve "The Great Pumpkin Noble Prize" .

Ron and Dick proved that the old days are over when only a few growers had the "secrets".

That DVD has a wealth of world class data too.
When we see ONE TON at least some of the credit will belong to these men.

Thanks Dave Carol and all for the kind words. A long time ago we said if we ever come close to figuring this out (and by no means do we have it all figured out ) we would share info. Back in the late 80's and early 90's when you called a soil lab and explained you were growing giant pumpkins, the conversation usually lasted less than a few minutes and you were rushed off the phone. I was even hung up on a few times. Times have changed, most soil lab experts are very interested in what we ( pumpkin growers ) are doing. I will not even get into how it was getting info from "top" growers during that era. BP and its members are as much responsible for the weights we are seeing today as any one group or individual.

its like i was kidding ron about this morning
i said "you helped open the door for the 1,500 pound group"
he replied "ya but i never expected so many to come rushing through it" ha ha i had a good laugh on that one.
seriously though. information is only as good as the grower receiving it. you grow it you deserve the credit.
gotta go prep a new patch. we got buried at the scales this year. look out 2008 lol
