In your opinion, what is the optimal size for a 1000-1400 pound giant.
Is 450 sqft enough, or should I give them roughly 700 sqft each. I will be growing in two patches, so I will either g0 4 or 6 AG/SQ.

Well Jordan, I asked a similar question a while back. The response that I received was that 450-600 sq. feet was the size if you want to achieve a really big one. If you are fortunate enough to have enough space to do this then go for it. Some people have , however, produced impressive results on relatively small patches. Hope this helps. Andy H

But if space is limited, do you still need to add the fertilizer, compost, etc. in appropriate amounts for patch size?

I would say yes. Most definitely.

Diamondlady, yes, you do.
I like to give my plants 30'x30'. That will give you room to work around the plants. More space is better in my opinion. Too little space is a big problem.
