I have an opportunity to get some hardwood compost but I'm not sure what effect it will have on my patch. It is well composted, black and quite fine. What nutrients are in this stuff and is it suitable for a pumpkin patch. I'm a little weary trying this stuff. Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks WIZ, read the article. Think I'll pass on the hardwood compost. Too much room for error and poor results. Andy.

Be careful of disease being introduced to the patch as well. Happend to me with compost I purchased. Miserable day in June when the plants leaves are on the ground one morning and you know the season is over.
