I have been contacted by a university group regarding the thickness of fruit walls. They have requested photos of fruit which depict cross sectional cuts and measurenment objects for reference. I you have any of this type of information please post or forward the pictures to.
Thanks

Here's a link to my pumpkin pics from 2005 and the Hester582 pumpkin I grew. This picture and the prior and following all have pics of wall thicknesses with a measuring tape: http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=43028

I got one and he had even read what seeds I was planting. Too bad he didn't read farther to see that they all went belly up.

It's not a scam. The guy is Dr. David Hu. He came to our weigh-off & is very interested in what we do. Visit his NYU website to see some of Dr. Hu's amazing work.
Please don't send him bad data. If you don't want to support his work then don't but please don't screw it up. He might come across so valuable information that we can use.

I got the same one, and had no fruit to maturity (again)...but, IMHO this could be a serious study, that could help us to grow heavier pkns. Granted, not the best way to request info, but nontheless??? Peace, Wayne

I received an email too....he specified which pumpkin I grew, that he was most interested in....so it was personalized(at least partially) in my case. I agree with Steve(Tremor). Maybe a large sampling is need for the study.

Got 1 too, interested in my diary. Yawn!! Also I think his collection of data may be flawed. I assume Thickness changes depending on how long the fruit has been off of the vine, Storage Location, amt.of sun, how long the fruit was carved left open before the cross-sections were cut, how much of the wall was thinned when it was cleaned of seeds, possible Steroid use,(see Colorado), and any # of variables.????
