Here in Nova Scotia, the weather has been unusually warm, however, old man winter is right around the corner. Is it too late to plant a cover crop?

Andy i haven't put mine in yet here in Vermont. Winter Rye is amazing. It may not fully green up for you this fall, but by spring you will have a nice green carpet you may have to mow before you till. My Rye will go down in about a week here and we are predicted for our first snow this weekend.

I think we have similar climates, that helps me a lot, thanks John.

Winter rye is pretty easy to grow. Probably would even come up through the snow. I do not have mine in yet because I have had soccer game after dance class and am taking classes etc. Should grow fine. All you need is it to get about 2" high and that is where it will stay until spring.

I look good in pink. They keep me in the back because I am taller than all the girls.

Will winter rye withstand cold winter temps?...I realize it may depend on snowcover. Once it's tilled in in the spring, does that kill it pretty well?

WAIT TIL NEXT YEAR

Even if some rye does not germanate this fall it will in the spring ... or even during a warm winter spell , as long as it's not under the white stuff..
