I know the top growers get this question every year. I'm going to ask this only once.
Pap, You were able to ask other growers of your ability to make comments on varies issues. I'm asking you to do it one more time. I would like to know everything about your soil not just yours but from the top growers out there. Pap I don't know you, but I read everything that you print and take it to heart. If you would be so kind to ask fellow growers of your caliber to post there perference to a ratio for the best dirt to grow big pumpkins only. In other words in a world for growing giant pumpkins I would like my results to match soil of the best growers out there. I will find a web site or a college site that will be able to take my results or anyone out there that have a soil test, match them to yours and others. Take the avg. of the best growers and make the changes. I know this is not a one time fix. I think the key is knowing what your soil and other growers of your ability, soil is made of. I will find a site or College and post a link so other growers can take there soil test compare it the best and make informed decisions on how they can correct there soil. I hope this make sense. If I know what that perfect soil should be, I can find someone to inform me on how to make it right, and when I do I will send you the web site or link. We all pay $50 to $70 for a soil test. How or what formulas do they use.

Hi Randy, $50 to $70 for a soil test seems real expensive. I only paid $9 for a standard test at UMASS. http://www.umass.edu/plsoils/soiltest/ Even UPS charges to ship the sample to the east coast has to be under $10.

There used to be a section on the AGGC with soil tests from top growers including Larry Ceckon and Bill Bobier to name a few. I belive Andy Wolf with a lot of work collected the info. I cant seem to find it anymore perhaps someone has the info. I do remeber people adjusting there soil mainly incresing the K and doing better. Others were way out of wack to what we try and achieve and yet they grew big. Go figure. David Garrell
