Congratulations to Jeff Reid. He took 1st place at the Windsor weigh off with 1202lbs. I know Jeff is a little disappointed that it went light, but Oh how I long for the day when I can be disappointed when my pumpkin only makes it to 1200 lbs. It is quite an achievement to get over 1000 let alone 1200. Great work Jeff.

Congratulations Jeff. I jumped on the bandwagon and was rooting for you these last 30 days. 1202 is awsome!! I dont know what your talking about.........you didnt let me down. One of the things that makes your growing technique great is the fact that you share it with the public. No secrets. Changing who you are dont make you a winner.

Oh..........and i want some seed!! LOL.

We'll chat this winter!! Congrats Again!!

Way to go Jeff! Don't feel disappointed that you let others down. Sure we all hoped it would go heavy for you but you grew one of the largest(OTT) pumpkins ever!!!

Hey Jeff,
You did a great job on a big pumpkin. You didn't let me down any. Sorry it went light for you, but I am glad you shared your growing season with me. That way I got to enjoy seeing it grow big all season, not for just a short while at the end. As far as I know we can't really do anything to keep them from being light, that is just the way it goes sometimes. Remember when the public looks at them they see big pumpkin, us growers are the ones that worry about the weight. You have a huge pumpkin there.
take care,
doug

Great job Jeff! I've noticed a lot of pumpkins going light this year. Nothing to be ashamed of. Another year might have seen it go heavy.

Strange year here. I can't quite put my finger on it, but we had a very dry June, wet July and August, very dry September and October so far, and record heat in October. Go figure.

Chalk it up as I have and work for next season. 1200 pounds is a real beaut.
