i have fresh manure available for the takink. is it best to spread it now or pile it in the patch untill spring?

No expert here but I say spread it out, maybe even till it in. Be careful with the fresh stuff. Rule of thumb is it should be at LEAST one year old before it goes in the patch.

Ive always collected manure in the fall and tilled it in the spring in my gardens and been doing this for years now and never had any problems associated with disease or anything. Ive never waited a full year but I guess I just do it a little different.

Fall, Till it in and get your soil tested.
