...anything brewing in the west?

From what I have seen this year, there hasn't been a whole lot to hear as far as world-class pumpkins from the western United States/Canada. Have we got some big bad boys kicking around in some patches waiting a couple more days, or was this really not a great year for the west?

Regretfully I was unable to grow this year, and so am not so finely attuned to the weather conditions as I might be otherwise. Would love to hear updated gossip/news/info on what's happening over in my part of the continent.

P.S.

KUDOS to Joe with the 1689! There have already been many posts congratulating him on his achievement, but I wanted to add my note of congrats too. Kudos as well to the Bill with the 1566. WOW.

The West will rise this weekend and throughout October. Hold on to your hats, it's gonna be a bumpy ride!

I think I heard that someone out west has a big one on the 1370 Rose. Keep an eye on Mr. Zunio as well!

This year was a strange year. The first Saturday of the month is almost a week into October. Some weigh offs decided to weigh early, others (I think most on the west coast, some on the east) stuck with the first Saturday.

By the way, let's not forget that there is a chance we really have NOT yet heard from the east. More weigh offs this Saturday...

One to watch for in the West is my daughter Amanda's pumpkin, Arwen, the gorgeous elf princess. If Arwen could speak, she would say: "UGEWONGALAMA!"

I don't speak pumpkineese so I not sure what that means but I suspect that she will leave quite a heavy impression at Half Moon Bay....

The damn thing of it is, I may have to take off my tailgate to get her in my truck!

Well...word is that there's a midwest bohemouth that needs a flatbed...no tailgate dropping in Iowa......

I went out to my patch and asked my pumpkin what UGEWONGALAMA meant...... it told me loosley translated it has something to do with the fat lady not having sung yet....

That brings up a good question - If I have to remove the tailgate and let Arwen's sweet orange hiney hang out in the breeze to get her to the weigh off, what happens to the expression, "When the tailgates drop the bs stops?

My guess is the bs just keeps flopping.....

No doubt, plenty of big ones left to be weighed around the continent.
