Gerry's PB went down today to a soft spot. Anytime is bad but a week from the weigh off is worse. Last tape was 1429 lbs. Actual weight was 1440.

Gerry, we're really sorry to hear you lost your big one. Losing it at this time of the year makes it even worst. It's still an awesome pumpkin though. Congrats.

Thanks for all your kind words. I was really heartbroken. But you know, nothing is certain. That's the nature of the beast. Larry and I put a lot of work into it. Our weigh off is next weekend and I have every confidence that the other PA growers will come through. I'll be back next year. Thanks again!

Gerry, I lost a much smaller pumpkin a week before the weighoff and I was crushed. I can't imagine how bad you felt losing one so big. I hope that next year treats you much better. You did something that many of us will never be able to achieve. Congrads on doing a great job, KathyT

Gerry sorry to hear about your blasted soft spot. Missed meeting you at the spring seminar, looking foreward to Altoona. Was it from the old or new patch?

Gerry- Very sorry to hear the bad news. Last week while working in my patch, I heard a dull "thump" and my personal best was history. Two 90 degree days and it was all over. The pumpkin taped at 1340. I managed to salvage about 30 seeds. thats all there were in the beast. I know how you feel, all that work gone! Bill P

The worst thing that can happen to a pumpkin grower is to get a fruit that big and have it go bad with in a week of the weigh-off. I am sorry for your loss but know you and Larry will be back, you can't keep great growers like you 2 down!!!! Dave
