Greetings from the land of polarbears (next year pumpkins;)! This year was my first "pumpkinyear" and there is not much to tell. But next year.. next year I will grow the biggest pumpkin in Finland! Growing season is still going on and we are waiting someone to make national record:) Maybe next year I´m the one making new national record;) It´s sad that our growing season is so short, but we do what we can... So every advice is more than welcome, thank you;) Have a nice autumn where ever you are!

Hottis the best way to keep Santa Clause out of your pumpkin patch.
1.first bake fresh made from scratch cookies (lot of them)
2.get your hands on fresh from the cow milk--no store bought milk Santa is old school.
3.surround your pumpkin patch with cookies and glasses of milk, every 10feet should do the trick.(of course some growers will disagree with the amount and tell you every 5 feet ,but 10 feet apart will work just fine).
4.polarbears hummmm cant help you with this one.have a hard enough time with squirrels & rabbit's
Welcome to the crazy world of Giant Pumpkin growing. hope all your pumpkins grow heavy!!

Time for a Growers in Finland thread. About time. Welcome. I love seeing new posts from around the world of growers who grew pumpkins larger than me again. Stick around. There is plenty of information and entertainment.

Thanks everybody for wellcoming me! Ed, your advice sounds very good, I´ll try that one;) But the polarbears... I might have some problems with them, but I think I`ll figure out something;) Maybe I buy some "polarbeartraps" from the shop next door;) Another problem is what to do with it when I catch it. Mmmm.. maybe Santa Claus will take it with him to the Korvatunturi (place in Finland where he REALLY lives). So don´t be amazed if at Christmas 2008 Santa will come with polarbear and not with reindeers.....
