I finally had to cut my 1074 off of the vine due to stem rot. Its over 700lbs so I would like to keep it until Halloween. How long can these pumpkins stay together off of the vine? I had one in 2005 last two months after being cut but also lost another one on the same plant in that time period.

wipe it daily with a 10:1 bleach solution. Keep it cool dry and out of the sun.

i have had pumpkins (not giants) last over 6 months here in northern california, without wiping anything on them. cool and dry, no freeze
