I had my white pumpkin go down tonight. Quite frankly Im surprised it lasted this long. It was basically rotten from the inside, and boy did it stink. It's up in the patch still tonight as I ran out of daylight to take care of it.

On a positive note or two, I have one pumpkin left and it sure is pretty. Small, but pretty. If it's 300 pounds I'll be excited at Oswego. I also received a load of cow fertilizer tonight from my cousin. I have my work cut out for me, he loaded into the trailer with a bobcat, but, no bobcat here, I have to unload by hand tomorrow with shovel and pitch, LOL! No problem, looking forward to it actually. Good therapy for me.

Can someone explain why a pumpkin gets rotten and very thin walls but measure 212 pounds? I realize it is probably genetics but, how can it feel so solid one day and when I pushed on it tonight it was just soft and spongy on the top. Can't even carve for Halloween. I was hoping it would stay together for that. I doubt I will even use seeds out of that pumpkin. It is stinky out there!

More than likely its been rotting a while from the inside out...the walls, once thicker have melted to a puddle of goo and look thin cause they melted away.
