In our attempts to grow the biggest ever, whether pumpkin or any other fruit or veggie,we sometimes get too involved and all we want is a 1000-er. Thank you Captain Cold Weather and everyone else for stopping during this (nice)mad rush as we aim to a thousand lbs. You congratulated Eric on a 100 lb pumpkin. 100 lbs on his first attempt was enormous. It may or may not be the largest pumpkin this year but it sure is great to see someone starting out to reach his/her goal. Kudos all around for supporting Eric. BTW it is nice to see everyone reach their goal. It is better still to see everyone take a moment for Eric.

I lost my whole patch two years in a row. Last year I decided to stay away from the compost I was getting from an outside source and stick to local sources of manuer. That and the constant learning process made it all worth while this year. It is a great feeling when you finally get one to grow bigger than the one last year. Getting the first one to grow at all is just as good. I no longer think 1000 lb is out of sight and would like to shock my local fair by dropping by with it next year.
