Hows the weather in the northern hemisphere? Anyway the weighoff that I am entering has been brought forward by approximately 2 weeks. After trouble getting my seed it was also planted late. It will be 112 days old on weighoff date. Anyway the pumpkin is currently estimated at 330 pounds. How can I pack the weight on? I plan to up it with Potassium nitrate and heaps of water. Any comments from more experienced growers would be appreciated. Regards Down under

Hi Down Under: Don't over due it with that Potasium. You might split your pumpkin. Use the reccomended amount. If the Plant is deadheaded. That is to say you have all the vine ends terminated(stumped) or cut off.And it's getting pleanty of water. They say an inch to an inch and a half a week is pleanty. That's about all you can do that i know of.The best of luck at your weighoff.John G....

Down Under, what kind of shape is the pumpkin in? Is the skin "Netted", Hows the stem look? Your right on giving it a little extra potassium, but if the fruit has matured it's probably done growing. I foliar feed my plants with a good weekly dose of liquid seeweed in the home stretch. I would'nt use to much of anything though, it is far better to have a sound specimin than a blown up one for sure! Best of luck @ the weigh offs. P.S What seed stock are you working with?
