As you may have heard, Breana Barker age 8 from Puyallup Wa., set a new Junior Record at the Puyallup Fair with her 1,016 pound pumpkin. Yesterday the Fair moved her pumpkin into the "Place of Honor" as the most outstanding fruit or vegetable at the Fair. Breana's pumpkin will be on display in a prime location for over 1 million fairgoers to see. They printed up a large poster with her story of how it was grown. I was just pleased she chose to use my seed and follow our fertilizer schedule.

Breana grew her 1016 from my 1161-05. It was still shiny and smooth with minimal rib development. Nice orange color with just a little cantalouping. It had a lot left in it.

Congrats wow she must be like the bobby fisher of pumpkin growing. Its just amazing that a 8 year old could mix the proper amounts of chemicals safely. Know what ferts to use and when to use them. Bury all the vines and know which vines to prune. Know where and when to pollinate the proper flower. Know what fungizides to use and when to use them. Monitor the fruits growth and when to cover and uncover the fruit. Know when and how much to water. She must also have had a preety big piggy bank. Simply amazing I tell ya.
