I awoke to my wife calling and telling me, I think were being bombed, check on the t.v. I was up for the 2nd bombing. It started out as a small t.v. report to every channel, every radio station reporting on it.

26th floor of the Fleet building in Hartford, CT watching it live on tv. Crazy to watch out the window as all fights were grounded and the planes we could see were turning to head back to the closest airports. We were all sent home early that day as the first planes hijacked were known to have left from Boston.

I was a junior in highschool and my friend told me that the buildings we saw in NYC with my mom earlier that spring had gotten attacked. That was at the water fountain between classes. I was on my way to Earth Science class and we watched the news reports in most of my classes the rest of the day.

I was at work. Someone told me that an airplane had run into the World Trade Center. I arrived in front of the TV just in time to watch the second airplane hit the other tower.

I also was at work and could not believe what I was seeing. Just don't understand that kind of hate. Was strange not seeing any planes in the air over the next few days. We live near two major airports. Seemed unusually quiet.

I was on my way to meet hubby at home when they announced the first crash on the radio, then by the time I got to the docs office and in to have a tooth pulled it was pretty much over with when I woke up. Docs office assistant told me what had happened further, and my first question was if we stopped flying planes yet. They had.

I work at the minneapolis st' paul international airport, all planes were grounded for 1 or 2 days, any planes flying had to find a airport and land in the usa, we had planes parked everywhere at the airport.

I was at work, a grocery store in Aurora, Colo., waiting for my store manager to show up. He was usually on time everyday. This day he was running late. Not like him. I'm surprised he even showed up. His brother was a New York City firefighter Rescue # 2. When my boss finally showed up we talked awhile. I brought a TV out and put it on an empty checkstand, which is usually a big no no ! He told me he called back to NY and his brother's family couldn't get ahold of Kevin. I will never forget my boss's face as we watched the first tower go down together. After the second tower went down my boss went home. All they found of my boss's brother was some parts of his fire fighting equipment. I have a photo over my work bench, in my garage, with my boss sitting on the bumper of an ambulance from Ruscue #2 with his brother LT. Kevin Dowdell, so I never forget how small this world is. Kevin Dowdell of NY Rescue #2..never forget !

Was getting dressed while watching the morning news on NBC when they broke in with the pictures of the first tower on fire. I then saw the second plane hit the tower live on TV and cancelled all of my client meetings that day, then hauled all of the tv's in the basement and sat and watched NBC,ABC,FOX, and CNN simultaneously all day. I was working on my MBA at the time and had class that night and was furious that class wasn't cancelled. It was a month before my son Connor was born (10/17/01) and I remember as a soon to be first time parent having a new perspective of concern for the where things in the world were going.

I was at home, and received a call from my aunt in Ill. She told me about it, and I turned on the TV(maybe around 9 AM CST). She was concerned about my brother who lived New York City at the time. My brother was fine. I went to work at the Nursing home in the afternoon. It was a somber shift there.

I just got home from a 4am-7am custodial job before I went to my college classes. I made some breakfast sat down on the couch and started to eat while I turned on the news. When I saw the plans hit the towers I couldn't finish my breakfast.

We were at a business meeting in Ronkonkoma at a hotel right next to MacArthur. There was a flight attendents meeting in the conference room next to ours. I'll never forget their reaction...
Since I was the driver for our group I left for the Port Jeff ferry shortly after the second plane hit. Word was out that all bridges & tunnles into & out of the City were closed so it was the water or nothing.
Got home, grabbed the kid & drove to my wifes employer.

I was 4 days into my freshman year at the University of Montana living in the dorms there in Missoula. The sun was barely coming up when my alarm went off and I started getting ready for the days classes... automatically turning the tv on local morning news as I walked by on my way to the bathroom. I got about 2 steps away when I could hear the tension in the newswomans voice and halfway to the bathroom before it registered what she was talking about. At that point I freaked out since my sisters and her family live and work in that part of Manhatten. For the rest of the day (classes were canceled due to lack of attendence) I was on the phone trying to get through to her and the rest of my family to make sure everyone was safe. Thankfully they were. Definately scary though and made me realize how fragile each of us really is.

i found out when i stopped into a professor's office after my first class and he was noticably shaken up because his daughter lived / worked in NYC. he told me what happened and he was watching it live on his computer.
our classes were cancelled at the University of Akron because one of the buildings is "supposively" a top 10 terrorist target. it's a building with secret floors and stuff. they got us off campus as soon as possible. i clearly remember everyone standing in line for hours to get gas that evening because of the potential of a war.

I was at home getting ready to leave for work and take the kids to the bus stop. Just before 7am on NBC, they broke in live with an image of a hole in the first tower, on fire. Katie Couric said something to the effect of, "We believe a SMALL PLANE hit the World Trade Center." At the time protesters were frequently on the news at WTO meetings and such, vandalizing, throwing chairs through plate-glass windows, etc. My first reaction was, "Whoa, they've really done it this time!" Then while watching it live, the second plane hit.......... certainly the most dramatic image I ever hope to see on live TV. And it became something much bigger.

I was in Hartford on the 23rd floor of the Gold Building. Went down to 4th to watch the news. Around noon we were all dismissed to go home. I remember how strange it was not hearing any planes in the air. We live by two airports and the silence was deafening. People in the office next door to me were talking to coworkers in Building 2 when the planes hit. They did not know what was going on when the second plane hit the floor above. None of them made it out.

I was asleep, been on evening shift the night before. My chief called to inform me we had been placed on high alert. High stress was more like it! I don't care what part of the country you were in, as a police officer it put you in overdrive.

I had worked night shift 9/10/2001 was catching some zzzzzzzzzzzz when I awoke to such a horrible site but the Trade Centers smoking away. Remember 343 of New Yorks finest answered the last call doing what they do every day protecting life and property. I have a decal on my truck honoring them where ever I go. Also we must remember the rest of New Yorks finest the Police and the EMS. No trsining of any kind could prepare them for the tasks they faced. Continue to keep their families in your prayers. Let us all never lose site, never forget how that day felt in our hearts. Watching live as people and heros died. We must never let our guard down again. God Bless the USA.

Having worked the night before I had just got up and turnned on the TV for news and watched in horror live TV as the second Plane hit the tower and reports of the others came on the air .....
There is nothing on these earth that we could do to these nut cases that they do in the name of their faith that will ever come close to what they should get for this crime in my humble opinion Bill G.
