As some of you may have noticed, we have a tv production "Glutton for Punishment" coming here this Fall for our regatta and they have a web-cam installed on one of our pumpkins that Bob Blumer intends and thinks he can perhaps race in our waters, October 14. Thanks to bigpumpkins (Ken & John), you can click on anytime to see this pumpkin. Our season here had a very late start, pollinations July 20-August 1. However, we're hoping for some nice specimens in the end.
The question to all of you is; What specific seed is growing this pumpkin for Bob Blumer? First one to post here to name it will receive not one but two 500 Northrup seeds. One guess only please. Good luck and grow them big n'orange! Danny

Oh, this is too much fun! A "jack be little" time to relax and get ready for some great fall contest and weigh offs. Best of luck to all and by the way i believe the seed is somewhere from the 600-800 lbs. range. Sorry Eddie, Clarence, Skip and et al. Are you not familiar with the sandbaggers who are ready to pounce? (lol) Danny

And the winner is......none of the above! Great guesses though. Another hint; this seed is not a Dill seed but was grown from an 'orange' Dill seed. Everyone gets another guess. Good luck! Remember; in the 600-800 lb. range.

Okay, will end the suspense, we have a winner! Very impressed to see you've been doing your history on the genetics of the Atlantic Giant.
Congratulations go out to.........Dan McKie of New York. You are correct in answering 788.6 Companion '02 (810 Dill x 995 Carter).
Dan, please e-mail us at [email protected] with your address so we can send you the 2 500 Northrup seed.
Thank you everyone for participating! There were a lot of really great answers.

Thank you everyone for participating, we certainly enjoyed it. Hey, George W., send me that 567.5 Mombert.
Anyway, behind the corn plants, another pumpkin is growing, the 710.5 Companion, and as a consolation, we'll send a 500 Northrup seed to PA Punkin'Pharmer who made that guess.
Further over in the background, we have a 500 Northrup, 670 Daigle and 1068 Wallace growing. Nice pumpkins but no contenders. Later, Danny
PA Punkin' Pharmer please e-mail us with your address, thanks!

I was just kidding a little Dave. Actually the 1068 does throw decently colored pumpkins. The 1502 and 1450 Wallace had decent color, for huge monsters. The 1253 Sperry had good orange color to it, if I recall correctly.
I look forward to seeing your 1068 this year Dave. What a cross! If I had a 1068 Wallace, I might find a spot for it, even if I tend toward shiny orange LOL.
