My 1180 has developed some really wierd cracks around the blossom end. They appear to be dry even as they crack and there is no seeping or oozing. The pumpkin is 85 days old and growth has slowed to maybe an inch every 4 days or so. After this photo was taken I sprayed the whole fruit with Daconil and wiped it off with a dry cloth. I then applied a very thick Captan paste to all the cracks and placed a fan in front of it. Do these cracks look like something that will bring the pumpkin down or should it last until the end of this month? Opinions please!!!

Generally you'll get those type of cracks on the stem end. They look pretty grey to me and so have scabbed up pretty good. I wouldn't worry about them at all. The pumpkin is aging and the skin is getting tougher but your still getting inner growth so something have to give, in this case the skin. Three weeks to go and it looks like you'll make it.

This very often happens when growth spurts after the skin hardens like in Indian summer etc.....cowpie is correct. Just keep them as dry as possible by doing what your doing and it wont attract bugs, mice or fungus...should be ok.
