While not being able to keep it in,I posted that I am closing in on the elusive 1000 pound mark. Now I know that PAP has clued us in on a "few" of Rons'pumpkins,Mike Franz keeps us informed, SL gives us a few shots of the LaRue patch, Vince Zunino displays his fruit on the world wide web so I am wondering where the best sandbaggers come from East, West or somewhere in between? Larry, Jerry, Quinn and Joe do a good job keeping us on the East coast guessing.

A lot of growers dont post where they are at because they dont want to have to answer where there pumpkin went should it not be available on weigh off day
Some just prefer to surprize everyone ( these are usually the people that will purposely arrive and off load just minutes before the weigh off is to start )
Some just dont share period. its not something they wish to do
Personally i dont have a problem with anyone be it talkative, mumbles, no info, no patch visit, come over anytime, have a beer, heres what i have how are you doing?, Im not sure, i dont know, ill let you know. everyone is different.
In the end it does not matter cause they all gotta sit on the scales and the scales dont lie
The bullshit stops when the tailgates drop- a great guy and giant pumpkin sponsor and grower from ohio (the late Dick Baird) coined that phrase

"To each his(or her) own". Well said Pap. That phrase(coined by Mr. Baird) has gotta be the best one liner in all of giant pumpkin growing!

I'm waiting for Brett's annual "Rumor mill" thread to be started.

I am not growing competitively this year so I have no "rumors" coming out of my patch but my eyes have seen a MONSTER FROM THE MIDWEST that does not play football. But it doesn't weigh anything until it hits the scale. It is what it's going to be.

pap i hear what you are saying, but thank GOD some heavy hitters share.
was talking to a few local growers here and this topic came up.the conversation was very lively.
I understand everyone is different but some people give out false info to new growers or to growers learning and trying the very best they can.
just nice to know we can turn to the heavy hitters like you,Larry,Joe,Sherry and other top growers who take the time to try an help all they can.
The sleep-less month of September, and the long walk to the patch hoping not to get a wiff of a dying pumpkin.is enough to drive you crazy.
i know this is off topic ,sorry about that.(sandbaggers). just wanted to say thanks to all the heavy hitters and any grower who takes the time to help his or her fellow growers. wishing all your pumpkins go HEAVY!

we all need help at one time or another. everyone big time, small time and in-between time grower. none of us know it all.
id bet if you talked to any current or formwer world record holder they to would have questions or concerns that they would need advise with.
