Hey I just wanted to say hi to everyone. I'm new here and also to growing giant pumpkins. I bought some atlantic giant seeds on ebay last year and grew a 120 pound pumpkin! (kinda embarrassing to post that here I know) :) but anyway I was excited as that's the biggest I had ever grown. And so my addiction has started. I saw the Lord of the Gourds program the other night and was amazed. I'm looking forward to being part of the community - it seems there is a TON of info here to get me started.
~Sam
p.s. is there a way to post pictures in the forums?

Welcome to insanity. Start a grower's diary. Post pics there and stay off ebay for seeds. Check out new grower's forum. There ar plenty of seeds. Just show interest and ask. Takes a self addressed bubble pack a desire to plant and a little humility (which is easy to get in this sport). This site has lots of info, just ask.

Welcome Sam, good folks here, the best info is here. I'm north of you, no jokes except the "I Owe the World an Apology" one. Seriously, welcome Sam! If you have other important people in your life, you may want to dish things a dose at a time, it IS additive, I hide new fert and agroK stuff from my wife and make sure that pumpkin related purchases are done with cash to leave no trail (she knows...). Now I assumed that Sam was male, could be wrong, if so the advice works either way I guess. Grow them big Sam, we need a record holder in the midwest, those nor'east guys are getting old. That said, how far you from the Urban Farmer guy? He's next I think.

Seeds here, just ask, and they are the best. Also go to diary's, find duster, he is offering seeds. Also email [email protected], he has a annual seed giveaway in november. And don't forget to come back to this site, it is the best.

You really have to wonder when we tell new growers to get out, run while they still can if they take us seriously. I can tell a person right away that will go over the edge...lol There was this girl once named Brigitte....

Thanks for the welcomes (and warnings) everyone!
Rob T - thanks for the advice about ebay. I first thought the seeds I bought were equivalent to the ones you guys use. I guessing I was wrong.
Bjx2 - thanks for the welcome and you assumed correctly I am a guy (25 yrs old).
Littlebit38 & Suzy - I will start saving money. Thanks for the tip. :)
Fogsurfer - Thanks for the info! I can't believe someone would be so generous to just give out seeds. You're right this site IS the best!
The Biz & Tremor - wait... frogs? monkeys? a Moose? ...sounds like I might've missed something there. lol

Go sam,,,Go Sam !!! Keep on this site and you'll find plenty of sources for seeds etc. Don't be afraid to ask a question, there are many knowledgeable growers here who can answer you ! And there are 3 books out there written by Don Langevin that you should read.

Shannon, you never told me to get out 3 years back, just kept sending me emails with advice. Now I have a drinking problem, my neighbors don't talk to me, I only sleep in 2 hour fits at a time, social services is after me for covering the pumpkin with the twins when it hails. All is good, but they say crazy people say the same thing. Run Sam, run like hell, you're young, you'll be ok.
