How many growers do you think are out there like Mr. Potter. Who don't have a computer and are just doing there own thing? I pray I'm still growing at his age.

I think there is a considerable number out there. Here in the south-east corner of Idaho I can count 8 or 9 (maybe more) active growers, but only Brian C. and myself ever make any noise online, (post on BP.com, host websites, etc.). A lot of folks out there don't have a computer, or don't have an internet connection, or have no desire to go online.
I agree that Bernie is an inspiration. (An instant celebrity.) I also hope I can still do this at his age.

If I'm still growing at his age (approx 50 years from now) it will be a life well lived. I couldn't believe he was dealing with that many plants!

I know there are tons of growers everywhere that think their 300lb pumpkins are the biggest anywhere. We have a small local community that has a pumpkin fest. We brought an 818.5 lber one year to it to show them a real pumpkin. We were not invited back the next year. 1st Prize was $25.00

It was great to see someone like Mr. Potter and I hope that pap can get a hold of him and get him some seeds to fulfill his goal of 1000lbs.
I was laughing when he was in the patch measuring his pumpkin till I saw that he was using a metal measuring tape....ouch...paps if you get his address, I'd like to send him a nicer measuring tape.

The show certainly wouldn't have been the same without him. I think a nice thing to do would be to start a thread letting him know how many people are out there rooting for him, then printing it and mailing it to him.
I hope he reaches his 1000 lb goal.

Pap - Bernie is a great guy and has more enthusiasm about growing these beasts than most. He is Cortland Pumpkin fest legend and as Matt V. said in the video, Bernie is the person we set our goal after, every year. Bernie would be tickled pink to hear from you. His Address: Bernie Potter 6351 Prospect Terrace Truxton, NY 13158 Rob S.
