I checked out the web cam at Howard Dills patch and saw that he has some black material laying on the plant. Did anyone see Howard sneaking out to put it there? Is it cold up there or is Howard got a secret to increase the micro climate???

Howard must be playing tricks on me! I checked it out again and they were gone.

I saw it too Ned. It looked like 80-90% shade cloth or something draped over the leaves. Could they be worrying about frost up there already?

I saw them too. i can't believe frost when we are dealing with 90's today and tomorrow. I know it's coming our way soon enough.

We've had frost the last 2 nights here in northern New Hampshire. Not hard enough to kill the plants luckily.

Thats a good thing! We've been having a really warm Sept for Upstate NY, and 90 degree days are highly unusual, not unheard of but very unusual. I'll take it though, means more pool time, LOL!

I have covered the pumpkins a couple of nights when the temps dropped into the 50's though.
