The show really put me there in everyone's shoes. I've been through many of the same emotions. Just goes to show that even those we consider the heavy hitters have the same ups and downs as the next guy. The show really put this pursuit on the ground level.

Loved it! Loved the special affects of how they made the pumpkins grow larger before your eyes. And the part with the woodchucks, that was cool. Hard to believe that vandals would get into a pumpkin patch and do damage, but, guess it's possible, and certainly heartbreaking.
I could relate with most of the emotions this week with 2 pumpkins going down myself, and your heart really does sink.
Great job everyone and a good show!

That was an awesome show!!!!! My daughter (soon to be three) was VERY excited to watch it. "Mom, it like state fair pumpkin" her words, I swear. (Frank M, I knew you'd be proud) She's going to be in for a TREAT at the Kentucky weigh-off!
Cool to see so many different patches and stories (and the Big Pumpkins Board, too!)

The mousetrap ring of death had my wife and I ROTFLMAO (or something like that).
Very poignant moment when Bernie mentioned that he wanted a thousand but didn't know how many seasons he had left. Makes you stop and think.
This is an instant classic. PBS is offering a DVD of the program for $25. I'm tempted to get it even though I already taped the program. In my local listings it says that it will be re-aired sometime on October 22.

Did anyone notice how they made each grower seem like they were crazy in a dark wierd sort of way? I loved the show, totally amazing! The range of emotions from cutting a fruit off, to losing one, to the end with Craig Lembke's weighing light, wow.. Spot on... Great show NYSGPGA, you are all to be commended for getting this together...
Oh yeah, how about Bernie Potter with the duster! It is amazing to see where he was equipment wise, and then to see Bill Bobier with his backpack stihl mister sytem... Poor Dave Steele, up to Joe's Barney blanket... This DVD is a must have!! I believe it is also available at the NYSGPGA.com website..

Rocky, I didn't notice the weird sort of way thing you’re talking about, all looked normal to me:-) A couple random thoughts. I can’t speak for Tom P., but I’m glad those kissing scenes at the end were done with just one take. That was my lucky Barney blanket that I’ve used in the patch for the last 7 years. It has a mildew/powdered sulfur smell to it. Not really what I look to cover myself up with on a regular basis. It took about 30 minutes to shoot that segment and lets just say, on that 88 degree day there was a serious threat of a deodorant breakdown. Bernie Potter is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met and Bill Bobier has collected some incredible and very pure pumpkin growing data. When it's presented, it should be some really good stuff for all of us.

The show was really well done. My wife even liked it. I could relate to a lot of what I saw last night. I thought it was pretty funny how they tried to make all of the growers look like all they do is sit on the proch and watch the pumpkins grow...of course with a shotgun nearby just in case they need to shoot something!

Joe....lol..I asked them to do several retakes on the kissing part...LMAO! The best part is that all the emotions you saw were real (at the weigh off or sure), these guys are all good friends and what you didnt get a chance to see is how we all cheer each other on and just have a great time watching each other do well! Don't believe Joe, we caught him napping at the weigh off with the barney blanket...LOL Bernie does have an email address. Tom

Wow! Television worth watching. I'm sure we all saw a little of ourselves in the show. This is sure to be a classic. Where can you see the following in one Show? Mousetraps three deep around a pumkin. The woodchucks getting into the patch. A milk injector. (I never saw that on Joel Holland's site) The flood in that one patch. Bill Bobier's mission control and the pumpkin hammock. The grower with the metal tape measure getting the OTT numbers. And who could forget Joe Pukos with the Barney Blanket? Priceless. How many of us knew the weights of the pumpkins at the weigh off? What a great group of growers in upstate New York. Makes me want to move there. I wish them all luck with their 2007 efforts.

I don't see PBS anywhere on this dishnet Kilr. I'm thinking why I don't get PBS on dish is because they consider that a local channel for me, if Dishnet thinks I can pick it up on a antenna in my area, which I cant, then they wont offer it to me. I just have to many hills and things blocking the signal to my antenna. PBS(ch46) comes in real fuzzy through the antenna no matter what I try( 20db power booster). The FCC says it illegal for dish to offer me PBS if I can pick it up with a antenna, its the same with CBS,NBC and FOX ,they wont give it to me because they say in my area I can pick these up local through the antenna.
And they wonder why people buy the pirate boxes and get free dish net instead,Lil.
OK sorry guys, carry on, didn't mean to turn this into a dishnet commercial, lol

That was great!! I had three calls after the show started to see if I was watching it. I really enjoyed the show. This I will buy and see over and over again. I was glued to the TV!! Wow, Joe Pukos and Craig Lemke, that was cool. I always wondered what other peoples patches looked like and if I was the only one who sat out in the patch with a lawn chair and blanket!!!!!!!!!!

It was nice to see faces with names I've known for over the years. I noticed BP.com on the TV. I was hoping to see my website or have someone mention it, but honestly I know BP.com is the place to go for support. All I maintain now is the record page and I'm hoping everyone will help me keep it current.

I too got several phone calls from locals that know of my hobby (to watch the show) I have to get a copy to see it in it's entirety without phone calls!
Duncan, Very nice to see you surfing in here! For those of you who do not know Duncan, he used to host the Mallorn list which we originally (before BP) communicated through back in the mid to late 90's. The message boards and diaries at BP.com made the email list obsolete, but I will always remember those early days with you and was it Dan Gardner? Something like that.. Man, the old email inbox used to get hundreds of pumpkin emails daily, then we went to digest form and got all of them in one shot, then we came here. Imagine if everytime someone posted in here, you got an email!! Now that is serious spam!
