When is one typically safe from this dreaded insect? Is the season from approx July 1st to mid August?

Wish it was I noticed about 5 borer eggs on my plants so im keeping a close eye on them. But my worst enemy besides my self is the darn Squash bugs. When I noticed the eggs I told myself dang their sussposed to be gone by now. It seems they slipped in this country illegally and dont want to go home.

I've never seen SVB this late in New England but every year Mother deals a new hand. How's the saying go? Nothing is certain but death & taxes.

OK, so when do we want to quit our pesticide routine for borers? Based on New England.

I haven't sprayed an insecticide in 2 weeks. Just Powdery Mildew fungicides now.

Im gonna continue to spray because I made the mistake and didnt go systematic. I thought it was to pricey considering this is my first year at competition growing. But ive spent more money on regular sprays in the long run. I spray once a week alternating between Matlthion and Sevin and Ortho max. I found two more svb eggs yesterday. One month to go..one month to go.
