I'm in the process of securing a 1 ton chain hoist for weigh-off weekend(Praying I make this final month)
My Plan and this is the part I'm looking for other opinions is I am going to use my kids steel swingset to attach the chain hoist too than lift the pumpkin onto a trailer?
Do you think the swingset top support will hold about 500lbs.?
I find myself always improvising in this "new found hobby" of Pumkin growing!!!I Luv it!!!
Thanks again

It will probably buckel right in the middle and the pumpkin will come crashing down. I'd never try it

Agreed. If the hoist's load is focused in one place, the average steel tube backyard swing-set is likely to fold like an umbrella in a hurricane. Think 4x4's or 2x6's.

Over 50 years ago, my Dad welded a swingset up of 2" galvanized pipe. It works fine for loading and unloading pumpkins up t0 800#, but I don't think I'd trust those flimsy swingsets they now sell in the stores!

I've always used a 2 buck steel scaffold with a 4x4 lifting beam, you can remove a side brace and back right under the pumpkin!

No, There designed to hold a 10-70pd kid, do you think they could hold a 800-1000 pd pumpkin.

If your 2year or 5,6,or 7 year old were 800-1000pds would you trust he or her on a swing set, I sure would'nt.

I don't believe that mass produced swing sets of today are built the way Killr's grand-dad made them. LOL
