hes done it again. that majic man from the rochester ny area has followed up that very successfull 805 pukos run with the now well known 998 pukos.
we pollinated a 1068 this year with the 998 in hopes that the addition of the 998 will add more uniform size and color to the 1068 while at the same time the 1068 will continue with the heavy genetic carryover.
before anyone complains about it weighing underchart remember they are not all that way, besides the seed is just begining its run.
once the 998 completes its run it to will be right up there with the 805 pukos seed. possibly even higher on the list of all time top seed producers

Pap,
I do believe the 998.6 seed will make a serious mark on the pumpkin world before all is said and done. With limited planting so far, it’s popped # 3 and #5 all time in the world (not counting DMG fruit) and that really puts a smile on my face. Jack LaRue and Al Eaton came up with the idea and seeds to cross the 1420.5 and 1446. Many growers agreed to do it. I thought it would be fun, so I went for the ride and got lucky along the way. Jeff is right. Like the 998.6, the 1083.5 Martin, 1072 Girard, 905 Colbert, 847 Hunt, 843 Heyne and 781 Busquaert all were grown in 2005 and are the identical cross. If anyone has any of these seeds lying around (not sure what fruit did or did not have viable seeds), I would seriously consider giving them a try. Also, I don’t think there are many of Phil Hunt’s 947 seeds (the reverse cross 1446 x 1420.5) out there, but that too has proven to produce world class size pumpkins. Pap, I like what you and Ron did bringing the 998.6 into the 1068 line. I think crosses like that will help us get up to that next level of world class size fruit we’re all chasing and I thank you. Joe P.

There is also yet another same cross as the ones mentioned above. The 991 Urena is the same cross as the 998 and the others mentioned, and the 1032 Urena is the opposite of the 998 Pukos. I did a 998 Pukos x 991 Urena cross this season, and am hoping for a good seed count at harvest time. I do not know why, but the 991 is not listed on the AGGC, but the 1032 Urena is. I personally recieved these seeds from Mr. Urena himself. I will be planting this cross of mine in 2008...Happy growing all

I have been thinking that the 1468 Richards(998 X Self) x 1709 Young (1068 X Sib) would be great, the best of the best
