This will permanently restrict growth. It depends on the chances of blowing it up by not doing anything. I cannot make the call. I have seen them break and have the pumpkin keep growing.

How many days old is it. How fast is it growing. Can you post a pic?

Would cutting the stem, part way, direct pumpkin growth to one part of the pumpkin, increasing the chance of damage to the pumpkin? Will it help to just cut the main after the pumpkin?

Steve I am thinking about next year slitting the stem from the pumpkin up 2 inches . The last 4 pumpkins in that patch has split Ron Rahe look at schweigert diary Doug 14 Main was cut off before the problem. I just want to know if anyone has done that before Thanks
