Yup, my orange beast just exploded today and I'm not exactly sure why and how. It was all soft on the bottom and starting to turn white on one side. She had a major crack this afternoon that split wide open.
The funny thing is, hardly any seeds in it and no pumpkin mush like my pumpkins had last year.
Any thoughts? It taped at 243 lbs. 95 circ.= 240 pounds.
Guess Im wondering if those measurements are accurate, and if it really was 240 pounds. No seeds, but pretty thick side walls. I really am confused, very disappointed that one exploded on me for the first time ever. Course it's only my second season and 6 giant pumpkins ever grown, so I guess I don't understand how that happens.

It looks like some that we lost in 2005 in the week before the weighoff: 500, 750 and 850 pounders. Ours just matured too soon and cooked from the inside out in the heat. The rot started in the inside and came out a hole on the outside. Just hang in there. Your luck is bound to change for the better.

I had one of a secondary explode. Saved the big one on the main. What a sight.
