I am thinking of getting a pumpkin weight scale for one of our local agricultural fairs. Can anyone recommend a model and a guestimate on price? Thank you!

I don't own one but I have been shopping around. I've seen new inline load cells with a digital readout, 2000 lb capacity, 0.5 lb accuracy, with warranty go for ~$200 on Ebay. Not sure if that's a great price but that's all the info I can offer. Hope it helps, Brian.

We use these guys for our weigh-off (Penfield). They also provide the scale for Durham.

for personal use, those inline scales work great, as you can hook them right in between the harness and chain hoist.

for weighoffs, the standard 4' square platform scales are the way to go.

To be official, don't forget that you should have the scale calibrated and/ or validated. If that requires an on-site visit by a technician it could cost some serious $ maybe more than the cost of the scale.

Wayne - I'll contact my scale guy. Maybe scale guys know scale guys like pumpkin growers know each other.

Calibrating a scale may cost money, but having it checked by your local weights & measures department to insure accuracy should be free.
